Many of you might have the question – what is BTM? and be confused about this subject. So, this post is about an in-depth review of this subject, and I will try to give all of your answers in this post.
Suppose you are someone who may have a combined interest in both technology and the business world. In that case, the Department of Business & Technology Management (BTM) allows you to fulfill your desire.
Now let’s look at the courses that are offered to the students.
BTM is a blend of BBA and Engineering. So, basically, in every semester, there are mixed business and engineering courses. BTM gives you this unique vibe, offering both courses over four years. The course plan of BTM is considered the most effective and most prospective course plan in Bangladesh.
বর্তমানে বাংলাদেশের কর্পো্রেট জব সেক্টরের জন্য একদিকে যেমন তোমার Business Strategies, Leadership Skill সহ বিভিন্ন Management ও Communication Skill এ পারদর্শী হতে হয়, অন্যদিকে Technology সমন্ধেও বিশদ ধারনা থাকা জরুরি।
এসব বিবেচনা করেই বিটিএম এর course plan করা হয়েছে।

1. Why BTM?
এককথায়,ভার্সিটি লাইফের পড়াশোনাকে তুমি যদি উপভোগ্য এবং পুরোপুরি বাস্তব ও প্রতিযোগিতামূলক জীবনের সাথে সামঞ্জস্যপূর্ণ রাখতে চাও, তাহলে এই সাব্জেক্টটি তোমার জন্য।
2. প্রায় 20লক্ষ টাকা খরচ করে BTM এ পড়া কতটা যুক্তিযুক্ত?
– প্রথমে BTM সমন্ধে যেটি বলা উচিত, সেটি হচ্ছে, “It is more than BBA!”
-Secondly, it will be worth it if you make the best use of what this subject is offering you!
এই Department এর প্রতিটি সেমিস্টারে রেগুলার কোর্সের পড়াশোনার পাশাপাশি কোর্সগুলোর সাথে সামঞ্জস্যপূর্ণ কিছু real world experiment, business problems, strategies, case study কিংবা case analysis এর উপর এমন কিছু tasks কিংবা assignments থাকে, যেগুলো তোমাকে corporate world এর সাথে প্রথম সেমিস্টার থেকে মানিয়ে নিতে সাহায্য করবে।
প্রতি সেমিস্টারেই Interactive Study এর অংশ হিসেবে বাংলাদেশের বিভিন্ন reputed company ও organization এর বিভিন্ন department এর professionals দের সাথে interview session এর মাধ্যমে তাদের সাথে কোর্স রিলেটেড আলাপ-আলোচনা ও corporate real life experience gain এর সুযোগ রয়েছে।
মোটকথা, চার বছর পর তোমার পজিশন এমন একটা অবস্থায় দাড়াবে যে তোমার উপলব্ধি হবে, এই এতগুলো টাকা তোমার ক্যারিয়ার গড়ার জন্য একটা investment ছিল, আর তুমি investment এর পর full profit টা পেতে সক্ষম হয়েছো।
3.BTM এ পড়ে আর কি কি skill develop এর সুযোগ রয়েছে?
BTM এ পড়ে তুমি শুধুমাত্র Business Related Skillই না, একইসাথে বিভিন্ন বিষয়ে technical Skill ও develop করতে পারবে।
Programming Language, Database Management & Big Data Analysis: BTM এর Computer Science & Technology কোর্সগুলো করার মাধ্যমে তোমরা একাধিক Programming Language (C, C++), Object Oriented
Programming, Python, R, SQL-DBMS এর উপর Skill গড়ে তুলতে পারবে। এছাড়াও Big Data Analysis, Machine Learning, Artifical Intelligence, FinTech বিভিন্ন বিষয়ে Short course Arrange করে শেখার সুযোগ করে দেয়া হয়েছে যা বর্তমানের প্রেক্ষাপটে খুবই সময়োপযোগী।
প্রতি semester presentation থাকার কারনে presentation skill develop হবে নিশ্চিত, তার সাথে বিভিন্ন ছোটখাট assignment এর কল্যানে English speaking skill, Video editing skill, Management Skill ও develop হবে আশা করা যায়।
MATLAB, SPSS (Statistical Software), Tableau (Data Visualization Software), Microsoft Excel এর Basic থেকে Advanced Level পর্যন্ত Skill Develop করতে পারবে।
4. Key Courses at a Glance:
BTM department এর Course Curriculum বিভিন্ন বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের expert academician এবং industry expert দের সহায়তায় Market Demand এর উপর ভিত্তি করে ডিজাইন করা হয়েছে এবং প্রয়োজন সাপেক্ষে Expert Advice এর ভিত্তিতে তা review করা হয়।
– প্রথম তিন বছর মূলত Engineering এবং Business Related কোর্সগুলো অফার করা হয়।
First year, Second year ও Third year মিলিয়ে তোমরা EEE, CSE, Mechanical, Civil, Textile Engineering এর সব Basic course গুলো পাবে
BTM এর Course Curriculum এ Computer Science & Technology এর ওপর বিশেয Emphasis দেওয়া হয়েছে। Computer Science & Technology এর কোর্স রয়েছে যেখানে তোমাদের একাধিক Programming Language, Database Management, SQL, Real World এর Business Problems কিভাবে Logical Way তে Solve করা যায় তা শিখানো হবে।
অন্যান্য Engineering Subject গুলোর দুটি করে কোর্স রয়েছে যেখানে তোমরা Basic সহ প্রতিটি Subject এর ব্যাপারে Knowledge পাবে। এতে তোমাদের পরবর্তীতে Job এর ক্ষেত্রে এসব Industry তে Cope Up করতে সুবিধা হবে।
Business Related Course গুলোর মধ্যে BBA এর সকল কোর্সই অন্তর্ভুক্ত করা হয়েছে।
Financial Accounting, Managerial Accounting, Finance, Marketing, Management, Human Resources Management, Supply Chain Management, International Business এসব রয়েছে।
BTM এর ক্ষেত্রে Major Subject হচ্ছে Technology Management এবং Fourth Year এ একটি Minor Subject Select করতে হয়। তোমার পছন্দমত Accounting, Finance, Information Systems, Human Resources Management, Marketing এই ৫টি বিষয়ের একটি Minor হিসেবে Select করতে পারবে।
Fourth Year এর Second Semester এ একটি Mandatory Internship রয়েছে যা তোমাদের Academic Knowledge কে Corporate World এর বিভিন্ন ক্ষেত্রে Apply করতে Help করবে এবং BTM এর Student দের Corporate Industry গুলোর জন্য Prepare করে তুলবে।
BTM এর Course Curriculum এমনভাবেই Design করা হয়েছে যাতে ৪ বছর শেষে একজন BTM এর Student Engineering Knowledge এর পাশাপাশি একজন Solid Business Graduate হতে পারে।
যেখানে অন্যান্য ভার্সিটির BBA program এ internship সহ প্রায় ৪.৫ বছর লেগে যায়, সেখানে BTM ৪ বছরের মধ্যে Internship সহ Graduation শেষ করিয়ে Industry এর জন্য তোমাকে Preapare করে দিবে।

উল্লেখ্য যে Internship এর Program টি পূর্বে Fourth Year 1st semester এ থাকলেও শিক্ষার্থীদের সুবিধার কথা চিন্তা করে Fourth Year 2nd Semester এ নিয়ে যাওয়া হয়েছে।
5. বাংলাদেশের প্রেক্ষিতে BTM এর ভবিষ্যত কি?
Organizations in Bangladesh and throughout the world value individuals who have a solid understanding of business, technology, and its applications.
As a BTM graduate, you could be working in several industries, as the majority of businesses need information technology to support their business needs.
তুমি যেকোনো Business Related Field (Finance, Accounting, Marketing, HRM) এবং Biz-Tech Related Field (Business Intelligence, Business Development, Data Analytics) এ তোমার Future গড়তে পারবে।
এছাড়াও Technical Field related জব এর ব্যাপারে কারো যদি Passion থাকে, তাহলে সেদিকেও যেতে পারবে। যেমনঃ Systems Analyst, IT/IS Manager, Senior IT Executive, and more.
BTM এর Course Plan এ থাকা 8th Semester এ বাধ্যতামূলক ছয় মাসের Internship আর প্রতি Semester এ কমপক্ষে একটি Factory Visit, বিভিন্ন কোম্পানির সাথে Professional দের সাথে link build up-এগুলো তোমাকে বর্তমান বাংলাদেশের Job Sector এ অনেকটাই এগিয়ে দেবে।
6. Research and Publication এর Scope রয়েছে কি?
– A good number of students are already working with the professors on research and publication. Some of the students published their papers along with the professors in some renowned journals.
One of our successful alumni, Jinnatul Raihan Mumu Apu of Batch’17, is currently at the University of California-Riverside and is one of the most successful researchers among them.
7. BTM এ পড়ে বাইরের University গুলোতে Masters, MBA কিংবা PhD করার সুযোগ রয়েছে কিনা?
– হ্যা অবশ্যই। Kaist College of Business- a world-class, top-ranked university with a very high quality of education, offers the same course- BTM, you can pursue your masters there.
University of Toronto, NYU; Tandon School of Engineering, USA; Concordia University, Canada; Boise State University, USA; Stuttgart Institute of Management and Technology; Northern Institute of Technology Management, Germany; Towson University, USA এগুলোতে তোমরা Masters in Technology Management করতে পারবে।
Undergraduate level এও BTM পড়ার সুযোগ এই বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়গুলোতে রয়েছে।
